THERMAL EXCHANGES IN A COVERED LAGOON BIODIGESTER TREATING PIG FARM EFFLUENT HEATED BY SOLAR ENERGY

چکیده
Covered lagoon biodigesters are widely used in Brazil for treatment of agro-industrial effluents; however, under natural conditions, they operate at temperatures below the ideal. Thus, external sources heating effluent can enhance reactor performance and optimize thermal exchanges between biodigester environment. This study aimed to evaluate internal environments a covered from influence through solar energy. Mathematical modeling (EnergyPlus software) was as tool simulate obtain heat transfer rates. To do so, two scenarios were considered: with without heated effluent. The results showed that radiation is primary source anaerobic reactors high inertia soil contributes small variation temperature resident biomass over course day, even scenario reached stabilized 30°C, after biogas soil, both hot cold periods when applied.

Electrochemical Treatment Technology in Biodigester Effluent Treatment (bde)
The objective of this study was to explore the extent of mineralization of Biodigester Effluent (BDE) by Electrochemical Treatment using aluminum electrodes in monopolar configuration. The benefit of determining a COD/TOC ratio is becoming evident. While both parameters are useful independently, the ratio of the two values, and the fluctuation of this ratio, is an excellent indicator of the org...
متن کاملSimulated thermal performance of a solar heated floor
A low cost, simple solar heating system consisting of an active collector with an In-Floor Heat Distribution and Storage (IFHDS) system was developed in response to the energy crisis of the 1970s. A two-dimensional finite difference model was developed and used to simulate the performance of IFHDS system cross-sections. Simulation runs were conducted with a steady-periodic model for the tempera...

Colfax, WA, operates an aerated lagoon to achieve compliance with its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, which currently requires biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and total suspended solids (TSS) removal. However, ammonia removal may soon be required, and Colfax is considering a nitrifying trickling filter (NTF) that would allow them to also maintain the lagoons. To ...
متن کاملComparative Studies of Vegetated and Non–vegetated Submerged–flow Wetlands Treating Primary Lagoon Effluent
The submerged–flow (SF) wetland concept offers high organics and solids removal at relatively low cost for construction, operation, and maintenance. In this comparative study, vegetated and non–vegetated SF wetlands were investigated for their ability to treat primary lagoon effluent. The experimental design was comprised of three vegetated and three non–vegetated SF wetland beds (3 m Ü 1 m Ü 0...
